Artemisia Fellowship

Camping in Chaos

Suppose it’s all chaos now—art can only be a way to be. Not to restore order, but to learn how to breathe within disarray. Artemisia takes root in the cracks of uncertainty, treating artistic practice as a form of quiet resilience—a gesture of attention in a world that no longer promises clarity. Like the plant it’s named after, this project draws strength from harsh terrain, asking how we might stay present, perceptive, and porous when the ground beneath us shifts. We pitch our tent in the unpredictable and help create artworks in the midst of turbulence.

The Artemisia Fellowship supports bold, innovative works that offer distinctive artistic visions, push boundaries in form, and embody independent thought and craftsmanship. We encourage creators to experiment freely in order to respond to the complexities of our times. Through a combination of grants, online training, and one-on-one mentorship from experienced professionals, the fellowship empowers filmmakers, artists, and cross-disciplinary creators in China — and potentially across broader Asia — to develop meaningful, formally adventurous nonfiction works.
